Today is international women’s day. A day where people across the world unite and empower each other, sharing their stories of discovery and growth as we work towards a gender-equal world.

The theme for this year’s International Women’s Day is to break the bias and create a world where difference is valued and celebrated and is free from bias, stereotypes and discrimination. Replaced, instead with diversity and inclusiveness.
But we’re not quite there yet.
Bias is everywhere, and every day we see stories of inequality across the news, social media and within our own social circles.
So how do we incorporate more equality?
We take ownership of what we can and become the change that we want to see in the world.
At emc3 two-thirds of our workforce are women and as a result, we have a forward-thinking team who continuously speak up about the ways that we can support equality. Some of the key areas mentioned include equal pay, providing a great support network, having a solid maternity policy in place, having equal opportunities for progression and flexibility within your role.
We pride ourselves on having these things in place, in addition to offering a flexible working policy as we know that life requires it, especially in the events industry! But we’re not here to pat ourselves on the back.
Instead, we wanted to draw attention to some of the incredible women we’ve had the opportunity to work with. Each of these women had an incredible story to share—which we won’t tell for them. Instead, we will leave you with some of their most memorable quotes.
